Plat Me Baby One More Time

They are back! I thought I had missed my chance in getting my hands on these shoes for retail, but the odds were in my favor. The story behind this shoe is pretty interesting and amusing. This is the first VaporMax I actually tried on before purchasing. Honestly, trying on this shoe and owning a couple pairs has really changed my views on a lot of different things. Something that really spoke to me was that I gotten  way too caught up in Adidas and the hype. It led me to not see and acquire taste for other brands. Brands like Nike, and I was a die hard Nothing but Nike. I started to feel like I hit a wall with Adidas. I was getting tired of everyone labeling me as an "Adidas Head" when really Adidas brand has done nothing to influence nor start my love for sneakers.. I believe this moment was the moment I finally came to realization that I was over the hype and honestly sick of the brand. This is how it happened...

I was in my local Finish Line and they had this sitting on the shelf. I immediately asked to try it on and instantly fell in love with it. At first I thought the fit was tight. I then asked for a half size up and then realized that the shoe felt longer and I had too much room in the toe box. So, I decided if I was going to get it, I would stay true to my Nike sizing. In result of this, I am glad I did. In comparison to my previous pairs, the knit stretches to mold to your feet.

So the real question I know you all are thinking .... why did I not just buy it them then?! Well, I knew there were rumors of a pack of this shoe in various different silhouette  releasing.. If you are a "sneaker head,"you probably know why I did not get them then. Like I have always said in previous blogs. When you see a shoe and know something else is coming out that really sparked your interest, put the shoe down, walk away, be patient, and wait. The pack I am referring to is the Day to Night pack. This pack really struck my interest with being a runner and actually being able to have more than just a character of style behind the shoe.

The best part of this small story is, when the Day to Night pack came out I had my eyes glued and heart set on the Colligate Navy. When Nike dropped the pairs on their website, I was able to secure and cart a pair of the Navy. Then a part of me really just loved the dark purple. Purple is one of my favorite colors and when Nike dropped the multiple pack of Racers, I purchased the dark lavender and was disappointed on how it looked on my feet so I ended up sending it back. So once I gave the purple more of a look, I decided to order it and decide when I got it.  Something I love about Nike is how they offering free shipping and returns if you a Nike Plus Member. Being a Plus Member is free, so if you are not one, I do not know why.... So finally, the ending of this small story, I instantly fell in love with the dark purple and loved how it looked on my feet. However, I was feeling really salty when I realized I liked the Pure Platinum more than the Colligate Navy.

If I can give an example,or an analogy, I would compare it to you realize you like that cute girl who is innocent and nice, but then this bad bitch comes out of the blue and teases you. She is never what she seems. This shoe was suppose to rerelease this Thursday, August 10th at select retailers. I knew I was going to do my best to get it... I did not I would be so ever lucky to get it early. Walking around the mall on my break jamming to some Flower Boy. I was doing my best to tune out any temptations with looking at anything else coming out. Walking passed Finish Line I saw the pure Platinums just sitting on display. I legit did a moon walk backwards and went right into the store. Finish Line received an email letting them sell the shoes early. I was super excited to be able to purchase them then, rather than having to deal with online or drive to the mall on my day off. So thank you to Finish Line for rereleasing this shoe when I missed out on buying them.

Let's get into the history and technology of this beauty. Nike designed this shoe with intention as using as a performance running shoe. Many research was done in making this shoe with its technology and constant testing, 5 to 6 years to be exact. In result, many runners out there lucked out with this beautiful shoe, with its forming technology of molding to your feet. The others one out there who do not plan on using them for running, have used this shoe for stylish, sleek, and stealthy killer look. This was the Air Max shoe designed by Nike that has a fully exposed the bubbles with uncaring the bottom of the shoe. The upper is completely made out of flyknit and polyester yawn, which is known light weight, form fitting, and see less properties.  The tow box gives you a very nice breathable room, however the mid of the shoe is more fitting. The upper flyerwire of the shoes gives your feet a firm and stable feeling. In order to do this, Nike went though 30 different alterations in making the upper perfect for your feet. The tongue is attached to the upper of the shoe giving it a thin and stretchy feel. I would like to compare this built to a Flyknit Racer. I am just comparing the tongue to this shoe, the comfort does not compared, so do not get it twisted. The translusive sole of the shoe is complimented with pressured air in a flexible air bag.. aka those bubbles on the bottom of the shoe. The bottom sole of the shoe acts as a sole and a midsole giving you an elastic and durable feel. Multiple airbag unite .. aka "the bubbles... "are separated throughout the shoe to give you flexibility, durability, lightweight, and versatile. This helps if you use the shoes for walking, running, or whatever else to give you the proper flexibility.

If you have never purchased this shoe or tried it on and plan on it, make sure you try it on. Some people like to go up a half or full size, since the shoe is very slimming and tight. In my previous Vapormaxes I have gone to my true size. The funny story is st first I almost regretted this. However, this is a shoe that breaks in the more you wear it and starts to really form to your foot. This is the primary reason why I love this shoe and is one of my favorite shoes to wear.  If I could give you my opinion, get your true size, wear them, they break in, and you will definitely rethink picking up a pair of Boosts compared to these.

Fun fact for all your sneaker nerds out there...

in 1978 Nikes Air technology appeared in the soles of the Nike Tailwind. 9 years following this, the Air Max 1 was introduced to the world. Exposing its beautiful visible bubbles to speak behind Nikes proprietary technology.

Today, Nike kills the game, introducing the Nike Air VaporMax to celebrate its 30th anniversary of the legendary Air Max 1. The Vapors have proven to myself, and maybe even you, that they are the most advanced shoe yet.

Finally! In pictures the shoe looks very silver, but in real life... as we know a lot of shoes never look the part. In person, the shoe gives a nice silver, blue tint, and icy look. This shoe is beautiful and very clean. Overall, this is my third VaporMax to add to my collection, and I plan on growing the family.....
