All About the Vape Bro
Wow, so this past week I was lucky 3 out of 10 times.
Everybody knows I like to take it to the max, with out a doubt the Off-White X Nike Vapormax did just that. Lets get into it… Before I explain to you about how beautiful this shoe is and how it is compared to the other versions of the Nike Vapormax. I want to take a moment to say how thankful I am to have been able to purchase these at retail from Nike. Months ago this 10 pack was released exclusively to New York City back in September. Trust me it took everything in me to not pay the re sale price on these. I had a feeling that I needed to wait, a feeling that maybe I could get lucky. I sure as heck am glad I waited.
If you do not about Off-White, here are some fun facts about the brand and Virgil himself. Virgil is a big influencer on fashion today. From his street wear of clothing to know his influence in Nike. Nike and Virgil teamed up to produce a collaboration called “The Ten.” Over the past five years, Virgil has grown from a peripheral figure in Kanye West’s entourage to one of the most talked-about fashion designers on the scene right now. What really speaks out to me is Virgil’s impact one branding. A brand’s most valuable asset is its logo and identity, and Nike has allowed Virgil Abloh to completely distort its archive to his own. With deconstructing original shoes to making it his own style is the message here. In every piece that he produces has some type of character that is different than the previous model. Reasoning on why Nike allowed him to be given this kind of freedom is because he’s a master of modern fashion marketing. We all know when we see someone wearing any article of Off-White it becomes mesmerizing something we want, something that is striking and different.
“I loved the spirit of the collection and what the campus element was trying to do from a content point of view. Giving people the chance to engage with not just sport but, as an art director and designer, for people to engage with a wider culture and stimulus.”
When I first opened the package the details of the tissue paper and the overall box grasped my attention. I have never opened a box of sneakers that had so much style. The outside of the box, Virgil totally put his spin on it. The inside of the box was reversed. For example, opening the box you see the standard Nike orange boxing on the inside. The tissue paper inside the box even had style. With Nikes heritage and also Off-White, I could not have geeked out more then the time and design that was just spent on the packing. Pulling the shoes out, you get 2 extra pairs of laces. One set of orange and one set of green. The shoe comes laced with fresh white laces. What I really enjoy about the laces is the fact that it says SHOE LACES.
Some favorite things of mine about these shoes is just the overall detail! How it says “AIR,” placement of the writing on the opposite side of the swoosh, and the tongue tab. The difference between this Vapormax and others in the tongue area is the tongue of this silhouette is more padded and gives more of a vintage look. It shows a heritage on the tongue, that thick old school look of like middle school gym class comes to mind when I look at it.
Overall, the fitting of the shoes is the same as any other Vapormax model. I would recommend going true to size on these. If this is something you want, you should go for it. Even if you pay have resale. I am not encouraging you to pay that amount. What I am doing is telling you to take a moment to think. That is exactly what I did. I came to a point where I just looked at my Yeezy collection and I was over it. I had enough of seeing the same thing, I had enough of people thinking if you have Yeezy’s you know or are a part of the sneaker culture. It truly got to a point where it made me sick I feel into a trend that was just too hyped up for its own good.
Brookeydoo Out.
